[General] Code of Conduct
This code of conduct is required reading for anyone registering an account on UT. These are the rules that we apply to our entire community - staff members included.
Role-playing takes a great deal of maturity on the part of everyone involved. Everyone who participates in the UT RP community is expected to behave as an adult when dealing with others on UT whether it is in an OOC or an IC situation. We understand that there may be joking or goofing off in our OOC room. However, it is imperative that our players recognize our desire to create a mature role-playing environment. We would prefer our players and staff refrain from the all-too-common intimate actions that are abundant within OOC rooms all over the net.
Players and staff are expected to treat each other with respect and consideration. There is no exception to this rule.
No one player on UT will EVER be forced to participate in a scene or storyline that they are morally opposed to or that they are uncomfortable with. If you are in a scene and the situation shifts to something that you are uncomfortable with we ask that you tell those involved and politely excuse yourself from the scene. In the same breath if you feel a scene could degenerate into combat or something that might require a witness or MOD, the scene may be placed on hold until a staff member can be acquired.
Meta-gaming is not allowed. Period. Meta-gaming is playing with knowledge acquired out of character and then used, transferred, to in character situations and scenes. If a player is caught meta-gaming they will be automatically suspended from the site for three days pending review of the situation. This rule is without question or discussion. We take meta-gaming quite seriously, please don't do it on UT.
Stalking and harassing other players or staff will also not be tolerated in any form for any reason. If you feel you are the victim of such inappropriate behavior, please seek out the Site Admin ASAP. If the behavior can be proven Staff will approach the offender and they will be - without question - banned from UT while the staff considers the reality of legal action.
Please also remember that discussion is good, however there is a strong difference between a healthy debate and discussion versus whining, moaning and complaining because a HST did not approve your kewl character with kewl powerz. Please be aware that this behavior will not be tolerated.
Players and Staff are to keep OOC comments and talk to PMs or IMs. Do not speak OOC to another player or staff member in public in the middle of a scene. It is rude and disrupts the flow of game play.
UT is a community for gamers to gather together and enjoy the company of one another. Please try and get to know one another by putting your character in open IC play instead of keeping them locked in private scenes with specific individuals.
We are an open play World of Darkness chat room. This means that each WOD system may - at some time - interact with one another. We expect our players to behave maturely. We monitor the stats of players closely to weed out the 'combat monsters'. However, sometimes the skilled twink can slip something past us - if this happens we want our players to know that we will act immediately on the first complaint of a player 'hunting' or 'killin' PC characters of other systems with no cause or reason. The staff will review the sheet together and make a decision on any action to be taken against the character and/or player.
As the site grows please be patient with your staff. Each member of the UT staff has a life outside of our community online. We will try to respond to all e-mails and character applications within 24-48 hours. If you are concerned that we are not acting quickly enough on your applications or concerns, please allow us at least 48 hours before inquiring about the status of your concerns.
UT allows Sabbat and Black Dog characters. These characters will be watched by ALL members of the UT staff very closely. Players that create and play characters of these types must be aware that if you abuse the right to have these characters your HST can and will pull the character from you. These character types require mature players to handle them. Do not apply if you do not feel you can do these sort of PCs justice.
There are many kinds of role-players in the world; some are more experienced then others, some speak English better then others, and while some may write beautiful words in small novellas for posts, other's may simply give you one or two sentences. We ask that you please be patient and tolerant of those around you, teach and give advice. Making light of a player’s lack of ability to play, write or grasp the English language is disrespectful and rude and will not be tolerated within the UT game.
The UT staff hopes that all of our players have a good time and enjoy their time on the site. The Owner hopes to make UT a place where the HSTs and STs t enjoy their time working on UT as well.
*Please refer to our chain of command in regards to any complaints or concerns you may have.
