This Sept was founded in the early 1700's. As new tribes made their way into the area, the groups of Garou who had made their homes here sought a return to the ideals with which their grandfathers had established themselves. To that end they moved away from where the other Septs were and founded one based on mutual cooperation, and shared knowledge. This would become known as Blackened Skies.
On the day the Caern was opened the sky became black with ravens. Raven had come to claim the new Sept as his own. It was as though every raven who had ever existed came to roost on the grounds of the Bawn and the Theurges, seeing this as a good omen, decided to name the Sept in their honor.
Since that time the Sept has remained one of shared ideals and a home for any who wish it. Even before the loss of the other sacred places in the area the Sept was known for its inclusion and open door policy to the tribes. Though the current situation warrants tighter security and a more guarded position they will still turn away no Garou who has need of their help.
The Sept is Located in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park just east of the city. The grounds are indistinguishable from the area around it, and seem to blend in with the natural rocky terrain. The heart of the Caern is a large boulder that sits deep within the earth and forms a small dome. Atop the rock there is a lone tree that grows through the cracks and is often seen with large ravens perched atop it. These spirits help aide in the protection of the heart as they guide any who don't belong away from the sacred grounds. All visitors to the sept are expected to respect the land, but what is harder is they are expected to respect the Raven Spirits as well.
There are camp grounds a short distance from the Caern and there are almost always Kin and Garou there to help guide visitors to where they need to go. The elders meet regularly and there will almost always be one or many of them on the Sept grounds to assist the other Garou with anything they might need.
Caern: Located inside a Large embedded boulder with a single large tree perched atop it.
Level: 4
Gauntlet: 3
Type: Sharing
Tribal Structure: All
Totem: Raven
Raven expects all who come to the Sept to share information. Visitors are also expected to pay homage to Raven in some way either by leaving tribute or by teaching lessons. This can be done in many ways. Typically Garou will leave carrion out for the ravens to eat, or tell juicy little secrets to the Raven Spirits. Some Garou instead choose to teach the lessons of Raven to their fellows. This is most often the path Ragabash take as is befits their auspice so naturally.
Spending time in the Sept seems to grant visitors the extra bonus of taking on the virtues of raven as well. When in the Sept it seems as though those of Garou blood need less sustenance to survive, and also that food that is thought to be spoiled takes on a fresh and new appearance. Visitors also do not suffer the effects of being outdoors and the Sept grounds are always pleasant and inviting.
